Can I Throw This In My Dumpster?

Almost all types of construction site waste can be discarded in a dumpster, including:

There are weight limits on your rental, so be aware that loads exceeding your weight limit may incur additional fees.

Drain all hazardous fluids from appliances, including air conditioners and refrigerators, before discarding them in your dumpster.

Non-hazardous household waste is acceptable to put in your dumpster.

The EPA defines household hazardous waste as “toxic, corrosive, ignitable, or reactive.” Some examples are paints and solvents, motor oil, automotive batteries, drain openers, household cleaners, and pesticides. Please avoid putting these items in your dumpster.

Natural waste such as leaves, grass, dirt, brush, and rocks are all appropriate to put in your dumpster.

Asbestos, and any debris that has been in contact with asbestos must be disposed of by a professional certified contractor. Please do not put asbestos in your dumpster rental.

Pesticides, freon, motor oil, auto fluids, and other hazardous materials may not be disposed of in your dumpster rental. Contact the state EPA office or local government to find out where you may discard dangerous waste.

Gas, oil, propane tanks, or other fuels or fuel containers may not be discarded in a dumpster. Contact your local fire department for disposal guidelines for these hazardous materials.

Do not dispose of tires in your dumpster. The hollow center of a tire can trap methane gas and cause severe damage to the landfill liner. Contact your local auto parts store for tire disposal options.
